This past weekend the Cleveland Apple Festival was held on the Bradley County Courthouse Square. The Cleveland Apple Festival is a 501 (C) (3) public charity that donates all net proceeds to other nonprofit organizations in the Cleveland area. This family event and festival offers multiple arts and crafts shows, live music, food booths, pony rides, entertainment, children’s activities, a petting zoo and much more. The children’s activities were located in the Trailhead Bicycle Kids Zone and were free to children 12 and under. Charles Nelson of Trailheads Bicycle gave away 2 bikes this year.
The planning necessary for this event, as with all events, does not happen in a vacuum but with the input of many professionals and volunteers. They are all successful by the participation of our citizenry and the support of those who attend the multiple events that are part of Bradley County that make our community stronger and more vibrant. Not all communities can say that they have an active and involved population, but with now over 100,000 citizens we can not only say it, we can prove it with our participation in a variety of events.
The historic downtown Cleveland and Bradley County Courthouse square are home to multiple events throughout the year especially for the next two months there are plans for many events for our families and citizens to visit and become a part of the fabric that makes a community stronger. This weekend the MainStreet Cruise in car show will have its final car show of the season as they are scheduled each year for the last Saturday of each month from April through October. This will be followed by the Downtown Block Party, The local Christmas parade and then "A Classic Christmas” from December 5th through the 7th.
These events not only have the background of a historic downtown area they have the tradition of providing opportunities for family fun, involvement and participation that become wonderful memories for all to enjoy. And while there are special events in our downtown area each year there are also a wonderful mix of retail, professional, governmental, financial, nonprofit agencies, financial, dining and many more professionals who choose to locate in this same area. In doing so, they provide employment and customer service opportunities on a daily basis. This is not the case across the region, state or nation. There will always be room for growth but we truly are blessed by those who get up each day to provide a service, plan for events and choose to daily meet each day with optimism and work to make their community better in many ways. And for making this action possible by the members of the downtown community and ALL across Bradley County please know you are appreciated and we ALL say THANK YOU!
Please join me, my family and the many others who support local business and continue to enjoy the activities and opportunities at this time of the year. The recent Cleveland Apple Festival, the many other upcoming events at the Courthouse Square and at other locations across Bradley County and local business owners help strengthen and add community spirit to Bradley County and beyond. As we get to celebrate the change of seasons and enjoy these events and quality of life may we always remember that these are just some of the reasons that prove that Bradley County truly is Tennessee at its best.
