Cleveland / Bradley County Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan
The best way to avoid or limit the effects of a disaster is to prevent or mitigate the associated damage before an event occurs. While many disasters can not be stopped or controlled, actions can be taken to limit the amount of damage incurred.
In an effort to accomplish this, Cleveland / Bradley County EMA, with the assistance of numerous city and county departments, developed the Cleveland / Bradley County Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan which received FEMA approval on February 27th, 2007. It was subsequently updated and approved by FEMA again on July 10, 2012. Federal approval of this plan allows us to seek federal funding for projects in advance to limit the effects of a disaster when it occurs.
